14 nights, 21 December to 4 January
One week on its own is 64 € a night. Two in a row, 57 €.
14 NIGHTS, 21 DEC TO 4 JAN
A room of your own
Private bedroom with its own bathroom, weekly cleaning and linen.
Work and life
600Mbps fibre and 24/7 coworking access two streets away.
A fishing village
Agaete, on the northwest coast, half an hour from Las Palmas.
What people actually do here
No programme, no entertainment team. This is what tends to happen in the house and in the village.
The long table
Someone cooks, everyone else lays the table. It happens more often than you would think.
The rooftop at sundown
Where the day ends, with the harbour right in front of you.
Swimming in December
There are people here who get in the water all year round. These weeks included.
Quiet work
600Mbps fibre and a long table under the pergola.
The natural pools
Sea water held between volcanic rock, in the village itself.
Puerto de las Nieves
A working fishing village, not a resort strip.
Community agenda, 21 December to 4 January
A guide, not a closed programme. The agenda for these dates is set with the community in December, so what follows is what these two weeks usually look like.
Mornings on the rooftop
Yoga and coffee upstairs before the long evenings, set with whoever is in the house.
El Cabo rooftop
The long table
Everyone cooks something from home and the table fills up. The classic of these dates at El Cabo.
El Cabo kitchen
Walking the valley
The Agaete valley and the Tamadaba pine forest, a short drive from the house.
Meeting point at El Cabo
The last night of the year
What we do on New Year's Eve is decided with the people in the house in December.
Agaete
Twenty one seconds of Christmas in Agaete
Our own drone footage over Puerto de las Nieves. Yes, that is Santa on a paddleboard, and yes, those people are swimming.
Frequently asked questions
What is December like in Agaete?
December in Agaete averages 19 degrees, with highs of around 22 (AEMET, Agaete station). A t-shirt by day and a light jacket in the evening is the usual kit.
Is the WiFi good enough for video calls?
Yes. Both the house and the Repeople coworking in Agaete run on connections meant for people who work online all day, with video calls and large uploads.
I am coming on my own. Does that work?
That is who these two weeks are for. The point of the block is that you are not organising Christmas on your own: there is a shared table, a community agenda and other people staying the same fortnight.
Can two of us share the room?
Yes, the double rooms can be booked for two. Say so in the booking request and we will come back with the rate for two people.
Do I need a car?
Agaete is walkable and there are buses (guaguas) to Las Palmas and the rest of the island. For the mountains and the south, a rental car makes the fortnight much easier.
